New top banner and consolidated menu items means an unobstructed view of your map.

When you’re designing a map, you want to see as much of the full map as possible. Our new visual refresh of the Style Editor consolidates some controls so that you can have the most amount of screen real estate to see your map.

The new top banner houses the core functionality and settings that used to float over the right side of the map and we’ve consolidated Debug, Compatibility and Style Reference under the settings menu. Now, when you click any item on the banner, only one window appears on the right of your screen, instead of two, and this window is now collapsable.

Old Studio Menu and Updated Menu. That sweet map is Monochrome style in Sky.
“Settings” now includes Debug, Compatibility, and Style Reference. Opening a menu item only puts one window over your map, instead of two.

In addition, under the hood of this update are also some updates to some internal libraries, like the Mapbox geocoder, which make Studio more performant.

What’s to come

We are continually investing in significant new features and continuing to respond to feedback and requests, to keep Studio the best in class when it comes to creating customized maps.

Let us know what you think of the new look and what other ideas you have for Studio by tagging @mapbox on twitter.

This is one of three updates to Mapbox Studio being released this week to improve your design workflow and help you create better maps, faster. We’ve also launched Style Generator & Monochrome Map Style to provide a better starting point for customizing a map, and a new Draft Editing Workflow to improve style management, collaboration, and iteration speed.
